This one is called - Mount Perfection. Your opinions please

Pensive, a little troubled but still without a tear.

That was the man on the hill with a deer skin coat.

The legs were in pain, the breathing difficult,

he was on a rock on the hill, between top and bottom.

He had lots to climb up and lots to climb down too.

The dilemma to go up or to go down still existed,

as he thought “ Once up there is only way down”.

Making up his mind to go up or stay where he was, was nearing eternity

He gathered himself and began climbing again,

over the rough terrain, the rocks and the thorny bushes.

As he went higher, he noticed that the peak was always visible,

but eluding him and the others all the time.

He went higher and higher and so did the peak.

Sitting down, pensive again, he began to analyze,

Was he the only one to climb Mount Perfection?

He was on the top, but never really on the top.

What was he unhappy about? The others were still down below.

As long as he kept moving, he would be on top and retain the respect.

The climb continued…

A thought that crossed my mind- called The Great Desire

It was a busy road and the traffic was at its worst. The rain, traffic diversions, and it being the peak hour, made this really bad. I was stuck in the middle of nowhere waiting for the vehicles to move forward. They moved inch by inch and my patience was really being tested. It is at this time I began to do what I do best. Look around and watch people. It is some good fun and at times a good learning experience.

I was behind a Maruti 800 car, and the car beside me was a Hyundai Santro. I was on my bike. The car in front of us was a Honda City. I was looking at the Maruti with the thought “when can I get one of my own?”. While wondering, I noticed that the person in the Maruti was looking at the Santro and the person in the Santro was looking at the Honda. It is one big cycle of desires. I was not happy with what I had, so how could I blame the world for the same?

Along with consciousness and conscience, man acquired one more feature called desire and then the will to work to get what he wanted. The question was, to what extent the person goes to get what he wants and where to draw the line between what he wants and what he needs. In market economics we study about needs, wants and luxuries.

This applies so very conveniently in the philosophical aspect too.

We go slightly green when we see a person at the same level that we want to be in the near future. How often do we think of working our way up to that level and how often do we think of pulling him down and getting to that level? There lies the basic human psyche and also the fact that some people curb the natural human instinct to go beyond the realm of comprehensibility into something that has been termed “practicality” with synonyms like “competition”, and “survival instinct”.

How far ahead do we have to in this new realm and if everybody has no choice but to go into it, what “newer” realm would come into existence? These questions may be a little far fetched at this point of time, but certainly worth giving them a thought.

The stranger seemed weird.

With a long flowing dress

and a great white beard.

“Hello”, I said,

“Can I walk with you?”

“Hello”, he said, “But with me, you cannot tread”

“I will try”, I said,

and took a stop forward;

but he was already two steps ahead

In a very short while,

he seemed to go very far.

The distance between us, was almost a mile.

“Catch up with me dear”, shouted he,

“You will be the best.

You will do what you want do and be what you want to be”

“What is your name?”, I was shouting

“Time”, he shouted back

and I started running
